Craft Austin

Crafting fun at Craft in Austin, TX.

So guys and gals, I have to tell you about this really cool thing I found. It's in Austin, so sorry for all you non-Austinites, but I really do think every city needs one of these. It's a special little place called Craft.

For just $10/hour you get a world of crafting supplies at your disposal, expert advice and assistance, and Craft will clean up your mess! I have to admit it was a little overwhelming at first, eyeing all of the supplies available for me to use at no additional cost. There's paints, glitters, glues, papers, foils, strings, trinkets, buttons, plus tons of recycled goods. With so many choices, you get a little time off the clock to peruse the shop and gather your game plan. Once you are ready, simply clock in and start crafting! I landed on this glass jar as my starting point. After removing the label with an x-acto knife from the utility wall, I soaked and scrubbed the glue off. Now I had a blank canvas to work with!

Clocked out at an hour and a half, I had a brand new, hand crafted vase, which now houses a cute little succulent. We all know that art can be therapeutic, and boy was that a great night out! After gathering my supplies, and some great advise from the Craft girls, I was all set-up at my table. With a  variety of paints to choose from, I picked my palette and got started, painting a scenic mountain range (guess you can't take the Pennsylvania out of this Texas girl!) Topped off with a little glass mosaic and a ribbon, I was pretty excited about my new creation! So if you are looking for a new date spot, a night out with the girls, or just a way to blow off some steam, I highly recommend Craft! Bonus: Learn about Personal Sustainability at CRAFT  Here's what they have going on this week: Mondays: Closed Tuesday 7/8 5-7pm: Happy Hour: Let's Cut Up Shirts!
