Exercise is vital to our own personal sustainability in so many ways, not just to sustain our physical bodies, but also our emotional wellbeing. No matter how you are moving your body, the important this is that you are moving!
I have found my own personal balance in exercise, playing roller derby and practicing yoga, though my chiropractor keeps telling me I should also just get out and walk more ;)
I have never been one for hitting the gym, and have let many a gym membership go to waste, not being able to find the motivation to just get there. For me, I needed to have accountability, and I needed to not be bored or actually feel like I am working out. I love the mental stimulation and intense strategy involved with roller derby. Just the opposite, I love the mental clarity and focus that comes from a steady yoga practice.
If you have been struggling to find what means of exercise works for you, or if you are not enjoying your current routine, I urge you to explore non-traditional options. I am lucky to live in a city that offers an array of unique workout options, from social sports, to outdoor recreation, to dance lessons, a million types of bootcamps, and so much more. Check out your local newspapers, hit up social media, ask your friends what they are doing, or just Google it - find out what your city has to offer and try something new and you might just fall in love with your workout!
When you are ready to start sweating out all those toxins, and reinvigorating your energy flow, in whatever exercise modality works for you, check out our sustainable sport collection. Did you know that most recycled polyester is made from recycled plastic water bottles? Not only does that help keep those pesky plastics out of the oceans and landfills, but it creates a super soft garment with wicking properties to help keep you cool and dry no matter what your workout! Though I have to admit, I wear the Mariska Tank for a lot more than just exercise, it is so comfortable and forgiving!
